Best Foot Forward supporting students with education

Education Services

At Best Foot Forward we know how difficult it can be for young people to engage and flourish in mainstream education. That is why each of our education packages are unique to each young person, as illustrated in our "road-map" proposals.

We meet the young person where they are academically and liaise with the team around the child to decide on the best pathway for them. We are dedicated to ensuring our young people are working towards recognisable qualifications so that they are equipped to make the next steps in their journey to further education, training or employment.

Functional Skills

Functional Skills qualifications

Opportunities to study and take exams in an Accredited Program of English and Maths with a Pearson Edexcel approved centre.

Functional skills are widely accepted as GCSE equivalent by employers and further education colleges, opening doors to students who want to progress into the world of work or additional studies. They are also an accepted part of Apprenticeship standards.

Exams can be taken at any time of year – whenever learners are ready.

GCSE Support

GCSE support for revision and preparation for exams

Where a young person is able to access and attain GCSE curriculums in English and Maths we will fully embrace this and mirror the work that a young person would be completing in school. The key difference is that we are able to focus specifically on the strengths and areas for development that a young person has. Where a classroom teacher has 30 other students to consider, we can offer individual support at the pace of the student which enables to make more progress in a shorter time than they would make in a classroom environment.

Our tutors are adept at bringing the curriculum to life and embedding the interests of a young person to achieve educational outcomes.

AQA Unit Awards

AQA Unit Awards qualifications

Best Foot Forward use AQA Unit Awards to support our students as they are rewarded with a certificate each time they successfully complete a unit of learning. They can build up a portfolio of certificates to evidence their skills, knowledge and experience, including within a GCSE syllabus. These unit awards also support reintegration into school as students can share their achievements with their teachers, thus helping to build positive relationships.

We provide Unit Awards for a variety of topics, including English, Maths, Digital Skills, Employability Units as well as PSHE, and many more.

Literacy and Numeracy

Literacy and numeracy support to close gaps in education

Our numeracy and literacy support is designed for younger students who have not yet embarked on a formal KS4 qualification pathway. Our numeracy and literacy interventions are designed to swiftly identify gaps in students knowledge and understanding and then seek to close those gaps so that our students do not feel that they are falling further behind their peers. We recognise that where young people have missed a substantial amount of time in education, have additional learning needs, or both, they may not be working at age-related expectations. Our interventions are designed to support and challenge in equal measure so that our students are able to make rapid progress in line with their abilities.

The most direct way to request our services is to complete our online refer form. Completing this form with as much information as possible will ensure that we can generate an individualised and focused proposal that will support your young person to make tangible progress.
