The most direct way to request our services is to complete our online refer form. Completing this form with as much information as possible will ensure that we can generate an individualised and focused proposal that will support your young person to make tangible progress.
(Where relevant please include an EHCP and Risk Assessment)

Best Foot Forward Referrals Process

Our Referrals Process ensures that we gather the right information about a young person at every stage. We can then make an informed decision as to whether we are able to meet the needs of that young person and devise a program of support. Each stage is outlined below. We will refer to the relevant “Stage” when we are communicating with you. If you have any further questions, please use the contact details shown within each stage.
01. We have received your referral
Your referral and accompanying documents will be reviewed and we will make a decision as to whether our service can meet the needs of the young person. It may be necessary to contact you to check the information you have provided or gather additional information. If we feel that we can provide our support, a proposal will be written.
Contact andrew@bestfootforward.org.uk if you need to provide more information.
02. Our proposal has been agreed
You will be sent a Proposal via secure mail which will include the proposed plan, objectives and costings. Read this carefully and if you are happy to proceed, please sign and return this at the earliest, to avoid disappointment.
If we do not currently have capacity, we will add the young person to a waiting list. You will receive a further notification if this is the case, but we may not be able to provide a definitive timeframe.
03. Your young person is on a waiting list
Your young person is on a waiting list. This may be due to one of the following reasons:
-
We cannot currently meet the time-constraints.
-
We do not have any tutors / mentors available on the days / times requested.
It may be that we are able to offer a few sessions in the interim before increasing to the full package of support. If this is the case then we will let you know.
04. Information Gathering
We will make a phone call to the young person's parent/carer to gather further information and introduce our provision. It may be necessary to contact the referrer at this stage if the expectations are different to the proposal or if there are timetabling complications. We will then send a welcome pack to the parent/carer.
•Contact: andrew@bestfootforward.org.uk for queries relating to this stage.
05. Scheduling Sessions
The parent/carer will receive a timetable for the student’s Best Foot Forward sessions. We will also provide the referrer with this information on request.
The referrer will receive an email to acknowledge that the provision is starting.
Contact: andrew@bestfootforward.org.uk for queries relating to this stage
06. The Best Foot Forward provision has started
Tutors and mentors will meet the student in an introductory session in order to start building a professional relationship.
During these initials sessions Best Foot Forward staff will complete a questionnaire with the young person as well as a risk assessment.
07. Provision Review
The provision will be reviewed within six weeks of the provision starting. If there are any concerns prior to this deadline, the review will take place earlier. Depending on the nature or seriousness of the concern we will contact the referrer to discuss the next steps.
Contact: andrew@bestfootforward.org.uk to discuss the review process.
