Tutoring
All of our tutors are qualified teachers who have a wealth of experience with young people with additional needs or who present with challenging behaviours. They are adept at demonstrating flexibility to meet a young person where they are and ensuring rapid progress so that a young person can reach age-related expectations.
Mentoring
Our mentors come from a range of backgrounds with a wide range of skillsets. They are very well-equipped to deliver programmes that focus on Social and Emotional Literacy, Personal Development, preparation for adulthood and life skills. At Best Foot Forward we put a particular emphasis on employability skills and careers advice.
Day Six Provision
Our Day Six Provision is specifically designed for children and young people who have been recently excluded from their mainstream schools. We offer a bespoke curriculum that aims to address gaps in learning and prepare a young person to transition to their next educational placement.
Qualifications
Functional Skills
Functional skills are widely accepted as GCSE equivalent by employers and further education colleges, opening doors to students who want to progress into the world of work or additional studies. They are also an accepted part of Apprenticeship standards.

Exams can be taken at any time of year – whenever learners are ready.
Personal Growth and Wellbeing (BTEC)
Sweet is a Pearson course work-based qualification at Level 1 and Level 2.

This course provides students with an opportunity to explore real-life situations and they are able to work on their award at their own pace.

Students are awarded GCSE equivalent grades depending on the number of units that they complete and Best Foot Forward encourage all students to complete at least one GCSE equivalent qualification to add to their CV.
AQA Unit Awards
Best Foot Forward use AQA Unit Awards to support our students as they are rewarded with a certificate each time they successfully complete a unit of learning. They can build up a portfolio of certificates to evidence their skills, knowledge and experience, including within a GCSE syllabus. These unit awards also support reintegration into school as students can share their achievements with their teachers, thus helping to build positive relationships.

Session Costs
Best Foot Forward charge £75 per hour (minimum two hour session). This rate is inclusive of travel costs and keeps us competitive with other providers while at the same time allowing us to reinvest in the infrastructure of Best Foot Forward so that we can provide the best service possible.

Additional Charges
Where students are undertaking a programme of study with us that involves gaining recognised qualifications or accessing specialist resources there will be additional fees applied for exam licences, registration and subscriptions. These fees are openly communicated with referrers for transparency.
