Best Foot Forward mentoring services

Mentoring Services

Best Foot Forward appreciate that for a young person who is struggling to attend mainstream education, mentoring can be a powerful intervention to compliment any education-based support. A young person will struggle to achieve self-actualisation until they are able to regulate their emotions, establish routine, discover their motivation, and feel secure in their identity. Our mentoring services are designed to support young people at whatever stage they are at, encourage personal development and, where possible, reintegration back into the right setting.

SWEET

SWEET BTEC in Personal Growth and Wellbeing qualifications

Sweet is a Pearson course work-based qualification at Level 1 and Level 2.

This course provides students with an opportunity to explore real-life situations and they are able to work on their award at their own pace.

Students are awarded GCSE equivalent grades depending on the number of units that they complete and Best Foot Forward encourage all students to complete at least one GCSE equivalent qualification to add to their CV.

Forward Thinking

Careers and IAG programme called Forward Thinking

Best Foot Forward appreciate that for many young people, a lack of direction and motivation can provide a significant barrier to educational engagement and attainment.

Our careers programme (Forward Thinking) is designed for all age groups from KS3 to KS5. We strongly believe that careers education should be embedded throughout the curriculum so that young people appreciate how they might apply the skills and knowledge they are developing in any future employment setting.

Social and Emotional Literacy & Personal Development

Social and emotional learning mentoring framework

Best Foot Forward are fervent advocates of the CASEL Framework in terms of providing a structure to our SEL and Personal Development sessions.

We recognise that Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Personal Development are integral parts of education and human development.

We pride ourselves on sessions that are both engaging and purposeful in order to address the areas of SEL and Personal Development that will most benefit the needs of a young person.

Reintegration Programme

Preparing students for reintegration back into school

Alternative provision, wherever possible, should only be a short term intervention. Our primary objective is always to prepare a young person for reintegration back into the most suitable setting where a young person can flourish.

Our reintegration programme is designed to identify a young person's barriers to attending school or further education and implement strategies to prepare a young person for this transition at the right time for them. We have a particular focus on EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)

Our review process allows us to identify when a young person may be ready to take this next step.

The most direct way to request our services is to complete our online refer form. Completing this form with as much information as possible will ensure that we can generate an individualised and focused proposal that will support your young person to make tangible progress.

(Where relevant please include an EHCP and Risk Assessment)
