Our Day Six Provision in Hampshire is specifically designed to support children and young people who have been recently excluded from mainstream school.
We provide a bespoke alternative education programme that focuses on re-engaging learners, addressing gaps in education, and supporting a successful transition into their next placement.
A Targeted and Supportive Approach
Our tailored curriculum is designed to:
-
Address gaps in learning following exclusion
-
Support emotional wellbeing and behaviour regulation
-
Rebuild confidence and engagement with education
-
Prepare students for a smooth transition to a new educational setting
We work closely with schools, local authorities, and families to ensure each young person receives the right level of support during this critical period.
Preparing for the Next Step
Our goal is to provide a structured, nurturing environment where young people can stabilise, make progress, and move forward positively—whether that is returning to mainstream education, transitioning to a specialist setting, or accessing another appropriate pathway.
Qualifications

Functional Skills qualifications are widely recognised as a GCSE equivalent by employers, training providers, and further education colleges. They provide an accessible pathway for young people looking to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or further study.
These qualifications are also a key component of many apprenticeship standards, making them an important stepping stone toward long-term career opportunities.
Flexible and Learner-Focused Assessment
One of the key benefits of Functional Skills is their flexibility. Exams can be taken at any time of year, allowing learners to sit assessments when they feel confident and ready.
This adaptable approach supports students to:
-
Build confidence before assessment
-
Achieve success at their own pace
-
Progress more quickly without waiting for fixed exam periods
At Best Foot Forward, we ensure learners are fully prepared and supported, helping them to achieve recognised qualifications and move forward with confidence.

SWEET qualifications are Pearson-accredited, coursework-based qualifications available at Level 1 and Level 2, offering a flexible and engaging alternative to traditional exam-based learning.
Practical, Real-Life Learning
This course allows students to explore real-life situations and practical scenarios, helping them to develop valuable skills that can be applied beyond the classroom. The coursework-based structure enables learners to:
-
Work at their own pace
-
Build confidence through continuous assessment
-
Engage with practical, meaningful learning experiences
Recognised Qualifications and Progression
Students can achieve GCSE-equivalent grades depending on the number of units they successfully complete. At Best Foot Forward, we strongly encourage all learners to work towards at least one recognised GCSE-equivalent qualification to enhance their CV and future opportunities.
These qualifications support progression into:
-
Further education
-
Apprenticeships
-
Employment pathways
By offering flexible, accredited courses like SWEET, we ensure that every young person has the opportunity to achieve and succeed in a way that suits their individual learning style.

At Best Foot Forward, we use AQA Unit Awards to recognise and celebrate every step of a young person’s progress. Each time a student successfully completes a unit of learning, they are awarded an official AQA certificate, helping to build confidence and motivation.
Building a Portfolio of Achievement
Students can work towards a wide range of units, allowing them to create a personalised portfolio of certificates that demonstrates their:
-
Skills and knowledge
-
Practical achievements
-
Learning across different subjects, including elements of the GCSE curriculum
This flexible approach ensures that progress is recognised in a meaningful and accessible way, particularly for learners who may find traditional qualifications challenging.
Supporting Reintegration and Progression
AQA Unit Awards also play an important role in supporting reintegration into mainstream or specialist education. Students can share their achievements with schools and teachers, helping to:
-
Showcase progress and ability
-
Build confidence and self-esteem
-
Strengthen positive relationships with education professionals
By celebrating small steps and sustained effort, AQA Unit Awards help young people stay engaged, recognise their success, and move forward with confidence.
