Health & Safety Competent Person Statement

Best Foot Forward confirms that Bethany Russell is the organisation’s designated Competent Person for Health & Safety.

In this role, Bethany Russell is responsible for:

  • Overseeing health and safety arrangements across all areas of service delivery

  • Ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation

  • Maintaining and reviewing health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments

  • Monitoring incidents, accidents and near misses and ensuring appropriate follow-up action

  • Ensuring health and safety considerations are embedded within safeguarding, risk assessment and operational practice

  • Keeping up to date with relevant health and safety guidance and statutory requirements

Best Foot Forward does not operate fixed premises and delivers services in schools, community settings, young people’s homes and online. Health and safety arrangements are therefore proportionate to this delivery model and are reviewed regularly.

Bethany Russell has sufficient knowledge, experience and authority to fulfill the role of competent person and may seek external professional advice where specialist health and safety support is required.
